World Orthodox leader says irrational use of resources is sinful
More and more people know that the irrational use of natural resources and unchecked energy consumption contribute to climate change, and that this impacts on life and the survival of humanity created in the image of God. It is therefore tantamount to sin, says the man considered by many to be the leader of Orthodox Christians.

Why I'm a believer: PM tells
Kevin Rudd has explained the basis of his personal belief in God -- that the universe is so well-ordered it must be the work of an intelligent mind.
The Prime Minister said yesterday he could not believe the creation of the universe was a random event.
"So I think there is an intelligent mind at work," he told Brisbane radio station 4BC. "That's not a unique view on my part. That has been the view of theologians for about 2000 years." Read on.
US megachurches embrace software to keep track of members
On any given Sunday, about 5,000 kids come into the children's ministry at Prestonwood Baptist church in Plano, Texas.
Families form lines and check in at 32 kiosks spread among the church's six entrances, swiping Quick Passes at the self-service machines. Parents register the kids for classes, then a kiosk spits out sticky name badges for both parent and child with identifying information: child's and parent's names, classroom and any food allergies.
About a dozen of the kiosks have volunteers standing by to help families who have forgotten their digitised cards. Read on.

Mission Development Forum, 10 September 2008 :
Synod of Victoria and Tasmania to reflect upon renewing its covenant with UAICC
With a renewed openness to Reconciliation in Australia post-Apology, and preparations underway for a new preamble to the UCA constitution, it is timely that the Uniting Church in Australia take stock, and reflect on renewing its covenant with the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress.
The Renewal of the Covenant has been on the agenda of the National Assembly, and this next Mission Development Forum is a rich opportunity for us to consider how we can actively respond in the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania.
We will enjoy both the hospitality and the wisdom of UAICC leaders at Narana, as we gather a vision and a commitment at this critical time in the life of our church.
The Mission Development Forum will take place between 9.30am and 4pm at Narana Creations, 410 Torquay Road, Grovedale.
Please refer to the Commission for Mission webpage for registration details.
