Standing Committee
Synod Standing Committee meets at least six times a year. Most meetings take place on Wednesdays commencing at 4pm and finishing at approximately 9pm, with an occasional meeting on a Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm.
Membership of the Standing Committee consists of the Moderator, Ex-Moderator, the Moderator-Elect and the General Secretary as ex-officio members.In addition, up to 16 members of the annual Synod are elected by the Synod.Of the sixteen, there are six Group B members with a nominal 3 year term with the balance being classified as Group A members elected until the next ordinary meeting of Synod.
Lay members are not fewer in number than ministerial members.In addition, within the elected membership there is available one place for a member from each Victorian Presbytery and two places for members of the Presbytery of Tasmania.
