Peer support training is designed to help a peer (a carer who does the same or similar work as those being supported) to come beside a ministry agent or leadership team who have been through a traumatic event or disaster. The peer training assists them to, listen, bring pastoral care and useful education around the process of disaster recovery. Units of the training include:

  • The nature of crisis and its affects
  • Issues for Ministry Agents in crisis
  • The role of a UCA peer supporter
  • The practice of peer support, including pastoral intervention, support, and education.

This one-day F2F training is for ordained and lay people in ministry, as well as those in Presbytery and Synod roles. Our aim is to set up a Synod-wide support team of peer-supporters.
