DESCRIPTION:You are warmly invited to join us on Monday 31 July when the Hon. Bronwyn Pike\, Chair of Uniting\, will launch For I Was Hungry: Congregations and Church Agencies in Relationship\, edited by John G. Flett\, Professor of Contextual Theology at Pilgrim Theological College\, University of Divinity. Copies will be available for purchase from Uniting Academic Press. \nThis is a significant book for the on-going life and structure of the Uniting Church and brings together an distinguished team of contributors. \nThe Basis of Union – the foundational document of the Uniting Church in Australia – clearly prioritises the congregation as the ’embodiment of the church’ yet also assumes the need for agencies to carry out the work and mission of the church beyond congregations. When the Basis was being devised\, congregations were strong and vibrant\, the voice of the church carried authority in the community\, senior staff in the church’s agencies – education\, finance\, hospitals and other caring establishments – were assumed to share and promote the faith convictions of the church. \nTimes have changed; and this collection of informed essays explores the consequences of changes in church and society\, the growing dependence of agencies on government funding\, issues of compliance\, competencies\, responsibilities. DESCRIPTION:The world has and is changing and we are seeking new ways of leadership and being in church\, including worship and proclaiming God’s Word. \n  \nJoin us for multiple options of engaging with 6 Worship Units and 6 Preaching Units. \n  \nParticipants can choose their level of input and connection. Have a conversation with your faith community\, congregation or Presbytery about what would would be good for you and them. \n  \nUnits are engaging and creative. Assessment is both theoretical and practical. \n  \nAccess 3 points of training: \n\nOnline delivery across the Synod – 2 hours per week\n\nJoin others in Zoom delivery of Worship and Preaching workshops\, combining a tutorial based on the online units\, and input from a variety of church leaders. \n\nAccess to online Worship and Preaching units\n\nAccess online units written around the Assembly W&P competencies for Lay Preachers and Ministry of Pastor. \n\nLocal assessment\n\nFor those who opt for assessment\, this will occur within their Congregation/Faith Community/Hub or Presbytery. \n  \nTo register\, click here \nRegistrations close on Tuesday 25 July \n
