SUMMARY:Mobilising Matthew among the marginalized: 30 years of community-based Bible study in South Africa
DESCRIPTION:Contextual Bible Study\, which is a form of community-based Bible re-reading practice\, has worked with Matthew’s Gospel in South Africa for more than 30 years. This lecture explores how Matthew has been used to engage with community-led concerns\, including African culture\, women’s leadership\, HIV\, masculinity\, male sexual violence against men\, race\, land and food security\, unemployment\, and unjust economic structures.
