New resources help faith communities grow

VicTas Synod signs MoU with Roots Resources for Churches

In late April, Rev Sandy Brodine from the Younger Gen Team met with Melanie Cave and Richard Reddie from the Roots Resources for Churches Board. Roots is a partnership of denominations and other Christian organisations and has been publishing lectionary-based worship resources for two decades. It is exciting that the Uniting Church in VicTas Synod will have the opportunity to work together with others to help shape these resources into the future.

Roots produces two sets of resources each week that are available online and in magazine format. Firstly, an intergenerational worship resource to help worship leaders to design worship that is welcoming and inclusive of all ages. In addition they produce resources for children in different age groups that sit alongside: including resources for under fives, for primary-aged children and for youth. These resources are great for congregations who are seeking to grow and develop their relationships with children and their families.

In addition to these resources, Roots produce a fantastic podcast which explores all sorts of issues with relation to growing faith communities with experts from around the globe. Each year their resources focus on a theme: in 2026 they have focused on evangelism and discipleship. The 2027 resources will focus on the nexus between intercultural and intergenerational ministries.

We encourage you to explore Roots Resources for Churches and decide if they will help you to grow a thriving community of disciples with people of all ages. If you’d like help with using them please contact Sandy.
