Safety and the internet

Safer Internet Day is held on February 11.

Young or old, we all need to be aware of digital safety.

With access to distressing video content online, abuse in comment sections, online scams and breaches in personal data, now more than ever we need to be aware of how to keep ourselves and those around us safe.

Safer Internet Day is a global day of action dedicated to raising awareness of online safety for children and young people, adults and seniors.

The eSafety Commissioner has some amazing resources on their website.

These include resources for supporting parents with a focus on online gaming, stories and activities for children, and advice and support for older Australians.

We encourage you to hop online and have a look through the website at what resources might be best suited to your space, including their translated resources.

And a quick reminder that the Safe Church website also has a range of resources speaking directly into the church space.

These were developed between the Culture of Safety, discipleship and advocacy teams and include posters and ‘Digital Safety 101: A Quick Guide to the Safe Ministry Guidelines’.

If you have questions about Safer Internet Day or any other safe church matter please reach out via email at cultureofsafetycontact@victas.uca.org.au
