Peace doves for Palestine

By Rev Andreana Reale

Recently it was World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel, as created by the World Council of Churches.

Our President Rev Charissa Suli has made a strong statement for peace and justice in the Holy Land.

I’ll be preaching on the topic, but I also want to be able to DO something together.

The Justice and International Mission Unit launched a letter writing campaign asking the Federal government to end weapons sales to Israel, and that is to be the focus of the action. It will look like this:

Invite your congregation to make a bunch of (very simple) origami doves, out of white paper (square paper or just photocopier paper cut into squares). Ask people to write or draw their messages of peace and justice.

Additionally you could make an appointment with your local federal MP, and take along a delegation from your church. Deliver the doves, along with a letter asking them to end weapons sales to Israel. And hopefully you can also have a conversation about why you think this is important.
