Samoan members unite in fellowship
By Virginia Lavaki
The 2025 UCA Samoan National Conference was a wonderful time of fellowship, love, and reconnection for Samoan members of the Uniting Church from across Australia.
Held over the weekend, the gathering brought together young people, elders, families, and church leaders to worship, share stories, and strengthen the bonds that unite the Samoan faith community.
This year’s theme, “Revive to Thrive”, reminded participants of the call to renew their faith, deepen their discipleship, and embrace God’s mission with fresh energy and hope.
Through uplifting worship, passionate singing, and heartfelt prayer, the Spirit of God moved powerfully among the people, reviving hearts and inspiring all to thrive in faith and service.
A special highlight of the weekend was the presence of the President of the Uniting Church in Australia, Rev Charissa Suli, who joined in worship and fellowship, offering encouragement and affirming the significant contribution of Samoan congregations to the wider Church.
Workshops and discussions focused on leadership, discipleship, and intercultural ministry, encouraging participants to reflect on how their faith and culture enrich the life of the Uniting Church.
The young people played a vital role throughout the weekend — offering their gifts, energy, and insights, and bringing forward a proposal to include young leaders on the Executive Council.
This important initiative reflects their commitment to shared leadership and ensures that the voices of emerging generations will help shape the future of the conference.
The gathering concluded with hearts revived and spirits ready to thrive in faith, service, and community.
