Camp celebrates Easter

This Easter, Canterbury Uniting Church will be hosting a powerful and hope-filled Easter camp running from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday. Spanning the sacred journey from the Last Supper to the joy of the Resurrection, the camp will create space for worship, reflection, learning and celebration.

Beginning on Maundy Thursday, participants will reflect on Jesus’ command to love and serve one another. Good Friday will provide intentional time for prayer, storytelling and creative expressions of the cross. Holy Saturday will offer intergenerational workshops and cultural sharing, building anticipation for the celebration of Easter Sunday, when the camp will conclude in vibrant worship proclaiming the risen Christ.

This Easter camp is especially important for intercultural churches. In communities where many languages, traditions and stories come together, events like this strengthen unity while honouring diversity. Worship, music, food, testimonies and prayer styles from different cultures will be embraced, reflecting the beauty of the Body of Christ. Rather than worshipping side by side, participants will worship together — learning from one another and growing in deeper understanding.

The camp is also intentionally intergenerational. Children, youth, young adults, parents and elders will share in leadership, activities and worship experiences. Faith is not formed in isolation but through shared stories across generations. As elders pass on wisdom and young people offer fresh vision, the whole Church is strengthened.

Easter camp is more than an event, it is a living expression of unity, hope, and resurrection life.
