Renewed by the Resurrection

By Virginia Lavaki

Over the Easter weekend, I had the honour of leading an Easter camp at Canterbury Uniting Church.

We were truly blessed to be joined by members from LTV Dandenong Fijian Congregation, Chadstone Fijian Congregation, Craigieburn Uniting Church, as well as youth members from Bidwill Uniting Church in NSW.

Throughout the weekend, we focused on holding firm to our faith, discerning God’s will and purpose in our lives, and exploring what it truly means to be renewed by the resurrection.

I’ve often heard the statement, “The Church is dying”, but the Easter weekend was a powerful testament to the truth that God’s spirit is alive and moving in His Church.

Around 200 people attended, spanning different congregations, cultural backgrounds, and ages, from newborns to 85-year-olds.

Together, we worshipped as an intergenerational and intercultural family of Christ.

To be renewed by the resurrection is to pick up our cross daily and follow Him.

God has called us to fulfil His work: wherever we are, whenever we are called, with whoever we are with, and however He leads.

Easter weekend may have come to an end but our journey as faithful followers continues.

To God be the glory forever and ever.
