Discernment Day – 25 October 2025 in person (Centre for Theology and Ministry) and online
What is discernment and who is this day for?
According to Wikipedia, “discernment is the ability to perceive, understand, and judge things clearly, especially those that are not obvious or straightforward”.
In the Christian tradition, discernment is a form of deep listening “with the ears of the heart” and there are many ways to do it.
Discernment Day is for anyone who would like to grow in their discipleship of Jesus, and learn about different ministries and education pathways in the Uniting Church.
All are welcome. Attendance in person costs $40, but please get in touch if the cost of attending and travel to Melbourne present a barrier. Attendance online is free.
Why does it matter?
Engaging in a period of discernment can be life changing.
The Period of Discernment (PoD) is an intentional and structured time that includes reflecting on your own, and with a mentor, and trying new things to discover where God might be calling you.
This could be to a form of lay or ordained ministry or to a secular vocation that aligns with your gifts and values.
