Painting is an integral part of Wes’s identity as a preacher. When a theological student, Wes was particularly attracted to the works of Australian artists such as Arthur Boyd, Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker and Fred Williams. Later, Wes often drew on iconography, scripture and weekly worship themes, with subjects ranging from Advent, Transfiguration, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. He also paints floral and landscape works.
