What do pubs, rivers, sports grounds, art galleries and the design of domestic houses tell us about faith and life in Australia?
This unit takes iconic places and the stories embedded in them as the starting place for a discussion of the relationship between secular and sacred, offering an overview of Australian history and its implications for the future in the life of communities of faith.
Secular and Sacred will be a stimulating way to gain a deeper understanding of the wider context of ministry in 21st century Australia, where ritual and reverence can be found in surprising places. You’ll be equipped to read your local spaces, too.
Consider enrolling (as a full or audit student) with a colleague or two and then forming a Peer Learning Group to reflect on your learnings in the light of ministry practice. There are Continuing Education grants to assist with both auditing costs and to support a Peer Learning Group.
For more Peer Learning Group information, contact Fran Barber at [email protected]
To enrol, contact Erlinda Loverseed, Registrar of Pilgrim Theological College on 03 9340 8892 or at [email protected]
This unit will run on 6, 13, 20 May and 5, 12, 19 August from 6pm – 9pm.
