Christmas checklist
By the Culture of Safety team
With the festive season fast approaching, now is the perfect time to put the finishing touches on your Advent plans and events.
First and foremost, we hope your planning includes ensuring that all appointed leaders, whether they have contact with children or not, hold a WWCC, WVP, or VIT registration.
For those of you who have recently moved to a new state, remember that our WWCC/WVP Policy includes a grace period.
This allows for a one-off event of less than seven days (excluding overnight activities) before you need to obtain a clearance from your new home state.
This applies to both lay and ordained individuals.
Also, don’t forget that “in-house” Santas are considered appointed leaders and therefore require a WWCC/WVP.
If you’ve outsourced the role, please ensure your Safe Church contact has seen the card or been informed of its details.
We look forward to discussing our work and the role you can play in it in 2025.
Since this is the November instalment and we haven’t yet heard the official start of the festive season (Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You”), we won’t wish you a Merry Christmas just yet.
Instead, we want to express our sincere thanks for all your hard work in ensuring our Synod remains a safe place for everyone to encounter God.
