Continuing education for chaplains

Pilgrim Theological College is introducing two new courses to support chaplains and spiritual care practitioners in their professional development.

All chaplains are kindly invited to participate in these enriching programs to expand their theological knowledge and advance their careers.

Spiritual care: independent practitioner

This course is designed especially for chaplains and spiritual care workers, already working in the field, to put theory around their practice. The participants will explore recent trends in the theology of spiritual care and be encouraged to reflect on practice in a range of settings.

This course will be offered on Fridays in semester 2, 2025.

  • Classes: August 8, September 12 and October 24.
  • Time: 9:30am to 5pm.
  • Format: Face-to-face and online synchronous, to accommodate different learning preferences.

More information on Page 19 in the Course Guide.

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)

This program is designed for pastoral and spiritual care practitioners, under a methodology of action-reflection-action model of peer group experiential learning. The action component involves the actual provision of pastoral care in a supervised placement setting. The reflection component includes exploring the spiritual experience, its dynamics and theological and spiritual dimensions.

This program will be offered on Mondays in semester 2, 2025.

School chaplains may use their employment as the placement with agreement from their school.

Refer to Page 27 in the Course Guide or visit the CPE information page on the Synod Website for the most current updates and information.
