About Disability Inclusion
We want people with disability to take part fully and equally in the life of the Synod and the wider community.
We believe disability inclusion is part of our calling as followers of Jesus. Every person is made in the image of God.
Because of this, we work to remove barriers and build communities where people with disability and their families can participate and belong.
We do this by working with individuals, congregations, presbyteries, and other organisations. Our commitment to this work is outlined in our Disability Action Plan.
Disability Action Plan 2023 – 2026
The Synod’s Disability Action Plan 2023–2026 follows the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. This means it works to make communities welcoming and inclusive for people with disability.
The plan is available in Plain Language and Easy English.
It was launched on 4 March 2023 at Rowallan Park, Kingston Uniting Church, Presbytery of Tasmania.
Both versions belong together. You should read and use both to understand the whole plan.
This plan shows practical actions to help make our communities welcoming and inclusive.
