A globalised world has not only connected people together everywhere, but it has also helped us to see the impact that we can have when we advocate for others. The coming month, there are two justice campaigns that anyone is able to participate in to spread awareness, raise funds and share our concern for the wellbeing of humanity.
Liptember is an Australian campaign that invites participants to wear bright lippy every day during the month of September. Partnering this social action with fundraising helps to raise money for women’s mental health. Though wearing bright lipstick everyday seems like a fun and lighthearted activity, it is because of this action that the Liptember Foundation has managed to raise over $14 million since 2010. The website also has a range of fundraising toolkits to help share your support across social media, workplaces and even event-hosting tips.
Safe Water September
Everyone deserves access to safe water. Dirty and contaminated water still remains a leading cause of illness worldwide, contributing to the spread of preventable waterborne diseases. Without access to safe toilets or safe places to collect water people are put at risk. This is why Safe Water September challenges us to give up our luxury beverages to raise money for their local partners in Vanuatu, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. You can sign up as an individual or even as a team with others.
Whether you are supporting a different lip-colour each day, or you are abstaining from a caffeinated beverage, then don’t forget to share it across your community, socials and friends. Not only can this help to spread awareness, but it can also help people know where to donate.
