Strong child-safe complaints process is vital

This month we wanted to highlight the fifth Pillar in our Child Safe Policy: Child-focused and friendly processes.

In pillar five the most important part for congregations is having a strong child-focused complaints policy.

This includes ensuring there are good processes for children who need to make a complaint, or for adults who have a complaint involving the safety of a child.

People attending our spaces need to know that we take all complaints seriously, and that they are safe to do so.

We also need to centre the child, their wellbeing and their safety in the process.

This means ensuring the process we use to investigate any complaints is not causing any additional trauma or stress for them.

More details on ways to reflect on this pillar and tasks to undertake to ensure you are meeting the child safe standards can be found in the implementation guide
