Becoming aware about family violence

Many in our communities experience violence in their families. Sometimes this can be seen and sometimes this is hidden. But often, and for many reasons, it is hard for those involved to ask for help or even share what is going on for them.

It is important for us as communities of faith to:

  • learn about the realities of family violence
  • encourage theological and biblical reflection on communities, society, and family violence
  • encourage conversations on the development and practice of mutual, respectful, based on equality and understanding.

In 2021, the UCA Assembly also released a collection of resources on domestic and family violence. You can access these resources here.

In 2022, the VicTas Synod released resources for congregations to help support those who are experiencing family violence. You can access these resources here.
